Burger Before I Go

Tonight is my last night in the US for the next 3 weeks. I will be heading to Uganda tomorrow. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I have never left the continental US before, let alone, flown over an ocean for an extended period of time. The experience will last a lifetime and I hope it will help me to figure out where my place or purpose is in life.

My place right now is sitting in a local bar alone soaking it all in. This planet is huge and I am finally getting the chance to see more of it: to learn more about people and culture, to embrace challenges and differences, to put myself and my compassion to the test. My senses will be overloaded and I will feel like a kid again. There will be new tastes, smells, sights to experience.

With so much going on in the world, it is hard to find something positive because the media is quick to show us the negative. All life is precious and we need to show that we know this and do more about it. We need to help others on our streets, cities, states, countries, and all the places in between. Willing to help without expecting anything in return. No tax breaks, no write offs, or getting paid for it. Do good and feel good and show that in the media.

I can do more than I have done and I plan to do more everyday. I hope to push the good movement and get more people to do it. So before I head out and do more good tomorrow, I will enjoy a burger before I go.
